Biedermeier Grandfather clock
Made by clockmaker C.R. Hölbe from Lemgo in 1826 as his masterpiece. (Lemgo is halfway between Hamburg and Cologne in Germany)
The power reserve is one month. The winding system is equipped with a mechanism that ensures that the clock continues to run while it is being wound, thus ensuring accurate time display and also protecting the teeth of the escapement wheel.
The very heavy temperature compensation pendulum is guided in a knife-edge bearing and has a fine adjustment device with a 1/10 second accuracy.
The clock is also equipped with a striking mechanism that strikes the full hours on a very sonoric bronze bell.
The weights are concealed behind a partition and are connected to the movement via rollers located in the pediment.
The clock has a cambered enamel dial and is housed in a wooden case covered with mahogany veneer, glazed on three sides.
