Watches and Wonders 2022 Geneva | Zenith Watches

After two years of the pandemic era keeping things digital, Watches and Wonders has returned to Geneva for their 2022 salon of horological innovations and excellence, March 30th – April 5th. Founded in 1991, Watches and Wonders was originally known as the Salon de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH). This bi-annual trade show for the watch industry elite became known by the fitting name of Watches and Wonders in 2019 and is organized by the Foundation de la Haute Horlogerie. Watches and Wonders has its finger on the pulse of the latest trends and brings watch creators and industry professionals together for this prestigious conference as well as collectors together to experience it through their curated digital content. The salon shines a light on the art of fine watchmaking and features some of the most prominent watch makers from around the world, such as Zenith.

Zenith

The theme for Zenith’s exhibition at Watches and Wonders this year is “Master of Chronographs.” This fitting title is aptly deserved for Zenith, with their most recent Chronograph Watch Prize win at last year’s Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Geneve, and is a salute to the manufacture’s incredible history and innumerous accolades and achievements that have contributed to the advancement of mechanical chronographs for over half a century. Most decidedly it brings focus to Zenith’s dedication to the pursuit of constant innovation in regard to the most intricate and sought-after complications. An example of this is the El Primero calibre. Introduced in 1969, it was the world’s first automatic high-frequency integrated chronograph movement. The 2021 release of the Chronomaster Sport improved on this legendary calibre with the introduction of the El Primero 3600, boasting an impressive 1/10th of a second chronograph function and improved efficiency.

Zenith Chronomaster Sport Gold White Dial

Zenith has once again raised the bar on the award winning Chronomaster Sport, now giving it the “Midas Touch” with the new Chronomaster Sport Gold versions, debuting at Watches and Wonders 2022 in Geneva.

Available with either a black or white dial with the signature El Primero tricolor counters with golden hands and applied markers, the Chronomaster Sport in rose gold is meticulously finished with satin-brushed and polished surfaces to bring out the warmth and radiance of the precious metal.

Zenith Chronomaster Sport Gold Steel BiColor

The Chronomaster Sport is now also available in a “two-tone” bicolor style, marrying the splendor or 18k rose gold with the durability of stainless steel. The bezel, crown, pushers and the bracelet’s center links are in rose gold, while the case and side links of the bracelet are crafted in stainless steel. A shimmering effect is added with the silver toned sunray-patterned tricolor dial.

Zenith Chronomaster Open Black on Steel

In addition to the Chronomaster Sport Gold releases, the 2022 Watches and Wonders sees a second entry from the respected Swiss watch company with the redesign of their 2003 Chronomaster Open. The original Chronomaster Open aimed to make the El Primero calibre the main focus with its partially open dial showing off the beating heart of this timepiece. With 2021’s incorporation of the 1/10th of a second chronograph to the already outstanding El Primero calibre, Zenith felt it was time to revisit this coveted watch from the early 2000’s.

The new Chronomaster Open features a sleeker silhouette with it’s slimmer 39.5mm case. The open design is retained entirely with a clear and clever twist – thanks to a hesalite crystal element that serves as a readable sub-dial while still providing a view of the silicon star-shaped escape wheel, allowing the vsibility of all three counters to be retained. This latest soon to be favorite from Zenith is available in steel with a white or black dial, delivered with either a steel bracelet or cordura-effect rubber strap.

Bringing its own sophisticated style, a rose gold version featuring a white dial with a blue cordura-effect rubber strap is also introduced in the new line.
