To Marquise or Not to Marquise
Often associated with the 1980’s big hair & puffy sleeves, this elongated pointy diamond is actually rich in history. Dating back to the 1700’s, this diamond style started when King Louis XV of France commissioned the cut to mimic the mouth of his mistress, Madame de Popadour. A new light has been shed on this diamond icon and it is making it’s way back in a big way. The cut not only makes the wearer’s hand appear longer and slimmer, it also makes the diamond appear larger than it really is.
